The course is specifically tailored for those who prefer motor yachts over sailing yachts and want to develop their skills in handling and navigating motor-powered vessels. Ibiza, with its stunning coastlines and diverse cruising opportunities, provides an ideal location to learn and practice motor yacht skills.

The theoretical component of the course covers a range of topics essential for motor yacht navigation and safety. Students will learn about navigation techniques, chart work, passage planning, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, and safety procedures specific to motor yachts. They will gain knowledge in interpreting charts, plotting courses, calculating tidal heights and streams, understanding weather patterns, and ensuring the safety of the vessel and crew.

The practical component of the course focuses on developing motor yacht handling skills and seamanship. Students will gain hands-on experience in boat handling, close-quarters maneuvering, berthing, anchoring, and operating in different sea and weather conditions. Emphasis is placed on developing proficiency in handling the controls, maintaining proper trim, and executing smooth and precise maneuvers.

The training is conducted both onshore and afloat, with a combination of classroom sessions, simulator exercises, and on-the-water training. Ibiza's beautiful coastline and calm waters provide an excellent environment for practicing and refining motor yacht skills.

Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to practice their skills in real-life scenarios, such as navigation exercises, passage planning, and coastal cruising. This practical application allows students to develop their decision-making abilities, gain experience in different motor boating conditions, and learn to adapt to various situations that may arise while skippering a motor yacht.

At the end of the course, students will undergo an assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Successful completion of the assessment will result in the award of the RYA Motor Day Skipper certificate, which is recognized worldwide and serves as a valuable credential for those looking to operate and charter motor yachts.
