Powerboat Level 2

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course in Ibiza presents an immersive learning experience for individuals keen on mastering powerboat handling skills in the stunning waters surrounding Ibiza. Tailored for both beginners and intermediate boaters, this course offers comprehensive training in powerboat operation, safety protocols, and navigation techniques under the expert guidance of RYA-certified instructors.

Participants will delve into practical sessions focused on mastering powerboat handling, including low-speed maneuvering, high-speed control, and essential safety procedures. The picturesque setting of Ibiza provides the perfect backdrop for honing these skills, with participants gaining hands-on experience in a variety of water conditions.

Completion of the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course does not confer a formal boating license or boat license. However, this certification is widely recognized within the boating community and serves as a stepping stone for individuals looking to expand their boating skills and pursue further certifications.

Throughout the course, participants will navigate Ibiza's scenic coastlines, practice turning techniques, and learn about engine maintenance and safety regulations. By the conclusion of the course, participants will have acquired the foundational skills necessary to operate powerboats confidently and responsibly, paving the way for future boating adventures and potential progression to higher RYA certifications.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN?

Launching and Recovery

Learn the essential techniques for safely launching your boat from a trailer and recovering it back onto the trailer after your trip.

Powerboat Handling

 Gain practical experience in maneuvering a powerboat, including controlling speed, direction, and performing tight turns.

Securing to a Buoy

Master the methods for safely and effectively securing your boat to a buoy, ensuring stability and security while moored.

Man Overboard

 Learn the critical procedures for responding to a man overboard situation, including locating the person, maneuvering the boat, and safely retrieving them from the water.

Anchoring

Understand the best practices for anchoring your boat, including choosing the right anchor, setting it correctly, and ensuring it holds under various conditions.

Leaving and Coming Alongside

Practice the skills needed to safely leave and approach docks or other boats, focusing on precision and control in various weather conditions.

Safety Equipment

Familiarize yourself with essential safety equipment on board, including life jackets, flares, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits, ensuring you know how to use them in emergencies.

Leaving and Returning to Pontoons

Develop the skills required to smoothly leave and return to pontoons, paying attention to tide, wind, and current conditions.

Basic Navigation

Gain an understanding of basic navigation principles, including chart reading, plotting courses, and using navigational aids to ensure safe passage

Collision Prevention Regulations

Study the rules and regulations designed to prevent collisions at sea, including understanding right-of-way and proper signaling.

Boat Design

 Learn about different boat designs and how they affect handling, stability, and performance on the water.

Engines and Drives

Understand the basics of marine engines and drive systems, including routine maintenance checks to ensure reliable operation.

COURSE INFORMATION

Duration & Experience Required

The RYA Power Boat level 2 includes Two days of hands-on, practical training.

Experience required:

The RYA Power Boat level 2 is tailored for individuals with limited experience, making it accessible to all who are at least 12 years old.

While no formal prerequisites are necessary, please note that all motor courses involve a degree of physical activity. If you have any concerns about your ability to participate, we encourage you to contact us for further discussion.

What should you bring

Prepare for varying weather conditions by packing a range of clothing suitable for both sunny and cooler days at sea.

Essential sun protection items like sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are recommended.

  • Marina fees

  • Insurance coverage while aboard

  • All mooring and fuel costs during the course

Please Note: The course fee excludes accommodation ashore, travel insurance, and personal expenses incurred during the trip.
